SisterLove, Inc Joins 'Voting Rights Now!' Protest

For the past few weeks, democracy activists and supporters have been engaging in civil disobedience outside of the White House, boldly calling on President Biden to use the full power of the presidency to bring lawmakers together and ensure the passage of the Freedom to Vote Act, The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and DC Statehood.

When the protests first began, 5 brave leaders risked arrest and were taken into custody. The next time, 15 activists joined them and the following time, 25 activists. Just last week, 59 peaceful protesters risked arrest to send their critical message. Until these bills are passed, there will be more and more people engaging in civil disobedience and rallying in support.

Next Wednesday, November 17th, we’re going back.

Our grassroots pressure has been working - President Biden recently announced that he supports changes to Senate rules to allow voting rights legislation to bypass Senate Republicans' continued obstructionism that has blocked the Senate from even beginning debate on these bills. Tellingly, on each day that one of our actions has taken place, journalists have asked the White House about their plan to pass voting rights legislation. These actions are building pressure, forcing answers from our elected leaders, and making our message impossible to ignore.

We need to keep growing our numbers and building on this momentum. To do so, we need activists like you to join us.

Now is the time to push and make our voices heard for the Freedom to Vote Act, The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and DC Statehood. These transformative bills are a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect our freedom to vote, remove barriers to participation that thousands of Black and Brown people currently face, limit the power of big money interests, end partisan gerrymandering, and so, so much more.

Let’s keep up the momentum next Wednesday at the White House.
