GAMA Project Update

Greetings from the SisterLove research team!

SisterLove is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our community as we aim to appropriately respond to COVID-19. At this time, our research team has adjusted our protocols and recruitment efforts for the Georgia Access to Medication Abortion (GAMA) Project to respect social distancing advisements and encourage accessibility for folks experiencing other participation barriers such as childcare, transportation, etc. In the effort to still provide a voice for community members that wish to engage in our project we are making the following changes:

  • We will use Zoom to conduct the remaining in-depth interviews and focus groups.

  • We will increase our digital recruitment efforts to include the dissemination of flyers online and through radio ads.

In these difficult times, we want to uplift and affirm that abortion is an essential healthcare service. Unforeseen closures of schools and various facilities can and have created additional barriers to people in our community seeking to access this essential healthcare service. We acknowledge and appreciate the tireless efforts made by healthcare providers, locally and across the country, working to ensure that abortion services are still available. For folks in need of access to abortion services:

  1. See our list of sexual and reproductive health services in the Metro Atlanta area;

  2. Call (678) 705- 7194 to speak to one of our peer counselors for referral assistance.
