Ashley Cason
HIV HERo
Ashley Cason, also known as Ashley Richardson, was born and raised in Miami, Florida. Ashley was diagnosed with HIV in September 2007. She was born with the virus, but had no knowledge until she was 15 years old. Ashley was an honor roll student throughout her secondary education taking advanced and honor courses in both middle school and high school. Aside from her taking her studies seriously, Ashley aspired to be an actress. She took theater courses and joined drama clubs from an early age. Ashley was accepted at Miami-Dade College and later transferred to Nova Southeastern University where she received a Dean's Scholarship. She made the Dean's List five times while there, and was inducted into two honor societies. Currently, Ashley holds a Bachelors in Finance and a Master’s in Business Administration. She has never let her HIV diagnosis get in the way of achieving her personal goals. She has been an advocate for over a decade and has volunteered with many organizations to bring awareness to HIV and to provide support to the homeless. Most importantly, Ashley fulfilled her dream of becoming a wife and a mother. And thankfully, neither her husband nor her son are living with the virus. Ashley has always believed that God has a purpose for her which drives her to seek purposeful ventures and why she continues to be publicly recognized for her involvement in bettering her community.
